Santé Solaire (2020–2025)
Improved healthcare in rural regions of Africa
Context and challenges
The impact of the Santé Solaire programme can be seen where it is needed most: in people’s everyday lives. Healthcare workers can work safely at night, medical interventions are more precise and less risky, and patients now seek help even in the dark – without having to wait until the morning.
64 Health centres
were equipped with solar systems in Burkina Faso, Togo and Niger.
A scalable approach
for the solar electrification of health centers in West Africa was built.
Over 438,000 people
have access to improved healthcare.
In collaboration with local partner organisations, Solafrica has further deepened its practical experience and specifically expanded its expertise in the solar electrification of healthcare facilities. On this basis, the programme was further developed for the period 2026 to 2029.
