Transparency
We handle the donations entrusted to us carefully and effectively. Our finances and our work are audited and evaluated annually by an independent Swiss supervisory body. The Zewo seal of approval confirms our seriousness and transparency. Solafrica is also a member of the Climate Alliance and aligns all projects with the goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Specifically, Solafrica focuses its activities on improving access to affordable, reliable and renewable energy for all people (Goal 7) and taking immediate action to combat climate change (Goal 13).
As a Zewo-certified association, Solafrica complies with the Swiss GAAP FER 21 accounting regulations for charitable non-profit organizations and is audited by an external auditor. When raising funds, Solafrica is committed to the ethical guidelines of Swissfundraising.
Donations to Solafrica are tax-deductible in Switzerland.
Transaction fees
Transaction fees are charged for online payments. Transaction fees are lowest for donations made by payment slip or direct bank transfer.
Free visibility thanks to free ads
Advertising is also important for non-profit organisations such as Solafrica. At the same time, it is understandable that NGOs have questions about financing. That’s why we are transparent: yes, some of the donations flow into advertising. However, the vast majority of our advertisements appear free of charge – thanks to the generous support of numerous print media outlets that publish our advertisements free of charge. Thank you very much for that!
Our financing
Solafrica considers it important to provide transparent information about the financial situation. Here you will find information about the origin and use of the funds.
Origin of the funds in 2025
Solafrica is financed entirely by donations and project contributions. With total income of CHF 2.4 million, revenue was below the record level of the previous year. Unrestricted donations amounted to CHF 628,295 and remained pleasingly stable compared to the previous year. In contrast, program-related contributions fell to CHF 1,504,358.
Overall, the annual result was positive at CHF 57,331.
Use of funds in 2025
Total expenditure fell to just under CHF 2.4 million in 2025. 77% of total expenditure flows directly into our projects to promote solar energy for people and the climate. Fundraising expenses accounted for 13% and administrative expenses for 10%.
Your donation in good hands.
