Many young people around the world lack access to education. The consequences are serious: poverty becomes entrenched over generations, a lack of prospects grows, and social inequalities are exacerbated. In rural areas in particular, there is a lack of opportunities to overcome unemployment. At the same time, the solar sector urgently needs skilled workers for the expansion of renewable energies. Without well-trained solar technicians, the potential of solar energy will not be exploited – and entire regions will remain without access to electricity.

Our education projects in African countries address this very issue: we train young people to become solar technicians and embed the necessary know-how locally. This creates new prospects, reduces unemployment, and grows the local solar market. Because the more people who master this trade, the more solar systems are installed and the more families gain access to renewable energy.
