Education changes lives – and entire communities. Together with our partner organisations in the global South, we empower disadvantaged people so that they can advance solar energy and master the challenges of tomorrow.

Many young people around the world do not have access to education. The consequences are serious: poverty becomes entrenched over generations, a lack of prospects grows and social inequalities are exacerbated. In rural areas in particular, there is a lack of opportunities to overcome unemployment. At the same time, the solar sector urgently needs skilled workers for the expansion of renewable energies. Without well-trained solar technicians, the potential of solar energy will not be exploited – and entire regions will remain without access to electricity.

This is precisely where our educational projects in Africa come in: We train young people to become solar technicians and embed the necessary know-how locally. This creates new prospects, reduces unemployment and grows the local solar market. Because the more people who master the trade, the more solar systems are installed – and the more families gain access to renewable energy.

Our training courses are aimed at people without access to further education. We ensure that at least 40% of participants are women. After their training, the new solar technicians install solar systems and make a lasting difference to the lives of thousands of people.

Education is the first step towards a sustainable future without poverty. Its greatest advantage is that it has a long-term impact because knowledge is retained, shared and passed on. Our education projects in Africa create opportunities for young people and entire communities to take their future into their own hands and pave the way for a climate-friendly energy supply.

Solar Learning Youth Centres

In youth centres in Kenya, disadvantaged young people receive training in solar technology with a state-recognised diploma. In this way, they are not only shaping their own future, but also the energy future of their regions.

Solar Learning for Women

Women in Kenya are learning solar technology and gaining new independence. With their knowledge and skills, they bring light to their communities and open doors to new opportunities.

Solar Learning Ethiopia

Young adults in Ethiopia are building a self-determined future by training in solar technology. They supply schools, health centres and villages with sustainable energy.

Solar Learning Tanzania

In Mbeya, young people receive practical training in solar technology. This creates income, skilled workers for the growing solar sector and new paths to a sustainable future.

Scouts go Solar International

Scouts from all over the world are trained as solar ambassadors. They bring solar energy to their communities with their own projects - promoting education and climate protection.

Scouts go Solar Switzerland

Scouts in Switzerland discover solar energy through workshops, experiments and mobile systems. In this way, they are sensitized to climate protection and discover how they themselves can be part of the energy transition.

Solar Energy for a Refugee Camp

Solar power is changing lives in the Kakuma refugee camp: A school, a clinic, a water pump and families are supplied with electricity. At the same time, young people are being trained in solar technology.

Solar Perspectives

Training in solar technology opens up new opportunities for young people and returned migrants - for local prospects, against the causes of flight and for a sustainable future.

In our project Solar Learning Ethiopia we have been able to train over 300 solar technicians who are now spreading solar energy in rural areas. This benefits around

30,000 people.
