Our
Finances
It is important for Solafrica to provide transparent information about its financial situation. You will find information about the origin as well as the use of the funds. The figures presented relate to the 2020 reporting year.
Use of funds in 2023
Last year, we invested heavily in the development of new projects to promote solar energy in the Global South, while at the same time we were also able to tackle some long-standing projects at our office in Bern.
For example, we introduced a new database, set up a programme for major private donors and, together with three other organizations, developed an alliance programme for the purpose of applying for SDC programme contributions. All of this led to total expenditure of around CHF 2.3 million. The additional expenditure compared to income is covered by the previously established earmarked project funds.

Origin of the funds in 2023
In 2023, we also felt the effects of the difficult economic environment. As a result, unrestricted income and earmarked project contributions fell slightly. This resulted in total income of just over CHF 2.1 million.
Private donations, including earmarked large donations and sponsorships, are important and still growing sources of income. This income now accounts for 29.5 percent. Thank you very much!
