Solafrica promotes the use of solar energy to create development opportunities for people and protect the climate.
Around 685 million people live without electricity. The unlimited and freely available power of the sun provides access to education, health and income. At the same time, it protects our climate and preserves the planet for future generations.
Solafrica bears the Zewo seal of approval, is a member of the Climate Alliance and aligns its projects with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Solafrica was awarded the European Solar Prize 2021/2022 for its innovative and multifaceted commitment.
Our projects
Around 85% of people without access to electricity live on the African continent – in a region with ideal conditions for sustainable solar energy.
Solafrica makes use of this potential: together with local partner organizations, we implement solar projects that are tailored to regional needs and are co-designed and implemented by local people. This creates real impact – socially, economically and ecologically.
Our vision
Our vision is a world in which sufficient modern energy supply for all people and climate protection are in harmony.
What we have already achieved
Our projects show how much change is possible with solar energy. Thanks to your support, we have already achieved a great deal:
338 Solar technicians
have already been trained in the Solar Learning Youth Centers and Solar Learning for Women projects in Kenya and accompanied into professional life.
62
Health centers
were equipped with solar energy as part of the Santé Solaire program. This has improved access to healthcare for hundreds of thousands of people.
155 Solar ambassadors
from 74 countries are already implementing solar projects in their respective countries. They were all trained in the Scouts go Solar project.

“With its projects and ideas, the Solafrica organization has grown close and dear to my heart. For me, Solafrica stands for a social, communal and ecological future. I would particularly like to emphasize that Solafrica's projects give people in less privileged countries the opportunity to shape their own energy future in an ecologically sensible way. I am therefore very pleased to be a part of Solafrica with my donations.”
