In Ethiopia, only around half of the population has access to electricity.<\/strong> In remote regions, network expansion is hardly in sight – kerosene lamps and diesel generators are still widespread there. Power cuts are also a daily occurrence in cities. <\/p>

At the same time, there is a lack of qualified specialists in the growing solar sector. Many young people are unemployed and, despite their motivation, have little chance of a stable existence. There is a lack of prospects, particularly in the rural highland regions. <\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Our approach <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Decentralised solar systems offer a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to network expansion – especially in remote regions. In order to build up this energy supply, well-trained specialists are needed on site.<\/strong> Region-specific training for solar technicians is crucial in this regard. <\/p>

This is precisely where the Solar Learning Ethiopia project comes in: It trains young adults in the installation, maintenance and marketing of solar systems – and thus specifically promotes the spread of solar energy in Ethiopia. The practical training is implemented in collaboration with vocational schools, solar companies and local partners. <\/p>

Participants acquire both technical and entrepreneurial knowledge and are supported on their path to self-employment<\/strong> – for example through access to small loans or the establishment of cooperatives. <\/p>

A model center for solar energy also teaches practical applications and raises awareness of renewable energies among the population. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
